THE Grovedale Neighbourhood House is now seeking expressions of interest from community members to join its steering group.<\/p>\n

The City of Greater Geelong says this is a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about their community to contribute to the strategic direction and development of vital community programs and services.<\/p>\n

Located at the Grovedale Community Hub, the Grovedale Neighbourhood House operates within a rights-based community development framework of inclusion, equity, diversity, lifelong learning, and community connection and strengthening.<\/p>\n

The house offers a wide range of activities, services and programs designed to support the diverse needs of not only Grovedale but also other nearby surburbs.<\/p>\n

Its priorities and activities are guided by the Grovedale Neighbourhood House Strategic Plan, developed in consultation with the local community and the Grovedale Neighbourhood House Steering Group.<\/p>\n

Funded by the Department of Families Fairness and Housing under the Neighbourhood House Coordination Program and auspiced by the city, the Grovedale Neighbourhood House is committed to fostering community participation and ownership.<\/p>\n

The steering group, established in January 2022, guides the house’s strategic direction and ensures it meets the community’s needs.<\/p>\n

Geelong mayor Trent Sullivan said the Steering Group was important in ensuring the Grovedale Neighbourhood House continued to thrive as a community-led initiative.<\/p>\n

“This is a fantastic opportunity for residents to play an active role in shaping the future of our community.<\/p>\n

“The diverse perspectives and experiences that community members bring are invaluable in making sure Grovedale Neighbourhood House supports the needs of local residents.”<\/p>\n

Cr Ron Nelson encouraged individuals who are keen to make a positive impact in the community to consider submitting an Expression of Interest.<\/p>\n

“Grovedale Neighbourhood House is an inclusive space that aims to strengthen community ties and foster a supportive environment for all,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Spaces like this are vital community resources that encourage active participation from all residents and are important in continuing to build a vibrant and connected Grovedale and surrounding neighbourhoods.”<\/p>\n

Expression of interest applications close at 5pm on June 24. Applicants must be aged 18 and over.<\/p>\n
