DOG lovers united in Geelong last Sunday for the 30th annual RSPCA Million Paws Walk.<\/p>\n

More than 700 participants descended on Geelong’s Eastern Park as they raised money to put an end to animal cruelty.<\/p>\n

Through local fundraisers, registrations, raffle tickets and merchandise sales the Geelong event raised more than $20,000 for RSPCA.<\/p>\n

“We are incredibly grateful to the Geelong community for their ongoing support for the RSPCA’s fight against animal cruelty and their work in the community,” Geelong Million Paws Walk local organiser Lauren Paterson said.<\/p>\n

“This Million Paws Walk wouldn’t be possible without the outstanding support from the local community, Geelong businesses and without the fantastic volunteers who helped put this event together.”<\/p>\n

The Geelong walk was one of seven to take place in the state, as more four legged friends hit the pavement right across the country.<\/p>\n

Locals participated in the 3km walk around the botanical gardens before heading back to the Eastern Park ovals.<\/p>\n

Fury friends and their owners also enjoyed a number of stalls and entertainment throughout the day including competitions, a dog themed<\/p>\n

market, agility course show, kids’ scavenger hunt and more.<\/p>\n

In 2023, the event raised more than $1 million which was enough to help over 5,000 dogs in the RSPCA’s shelters for a week.<\/p>\n
