{"id":98900,"date":"2024-06-14T08:43:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-13T22:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/cooney-cross-to-feature-as-clinics-special-guest\/"},"modified":"2024-06-14T14:07:10","modified_gmt":"2024-06-14T04:07:10","slug":"cooney-cross-to-feature-as-clinics-special-guest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/sport\/cooney-cross-to-feature-as-clinics-special-guest\/","title":{"rendered":"Cooney-Cross to feature as clinic&#8217;s special guest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"elementToProof\">JUNIOR footballers will get the opportunity of a lifetime to see and hear from a Matildas midfielder and former Surf Coast footballer when Kyra Cooney-Cross comes to town next Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementToProof\">Cooney-Cross, who was recently announced as part of the Australian women\u2019s football team headed for the Paris Olympics, will feature as the guest of honour at next week\u2019s Coerver Coaching Geelong clinic at Banyul Warri Fields from 4.30pm-7.30pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementToProof\">Coerver Coaching Geelong director and former Melbourne Victory player Adrian Leijer said it was an exciting chance for young footballers across the region to see one of the best footballers in the country up close.<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementToProof\">\u201cIt\u2019s very exciting for our local kids to be able to mingle with a global star who is only weeks away from heading off to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKyra is a star for the Matildas and has really made her mark with Arsenal in her debut season, it\u2019s such a fantastic opportunity and I\u2019m sure it will be very inspiring.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementToProof\">Cooney-Cross will participate in a Q&amp;A with the participants upon arrival, where they will have an opportunity to take a photo with her and get an autograph as well.<\/p>\n<p>She will then head out and observe the junior footballers who will participate in a Coerver skills clinic and will provide tips of her own to improve their skills.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKyra was a Coerver kid as a junior and her dad operates Coerver Coaching Central Coast,\u201d Leijer said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor all of our holiday camps we invite a current professional down, with the aim of giving the kids a taste of what life is like as a professional.
