IN the lead up to the July school holidays, Fisheries Victoria are stocking lakes around the state.<\/p>\n

Geelong’s Saint Augustine Water Hole will be stocked with 750 rainbow trout, with the aim of getting families to go fishing.<\/p>\n

Once stocked, the rainbow trout will be ready to catch.<\/p>\n

The species take a variety of baits and lures, making them a good option for children.<\/p>\n

The Saint Augustine Water Hole in Highton received 250 trout in June last year and a further 750 in time for the 2023 September holidays.<\/p>\n

Rainbow trout are an introduced species from North America and are a popular species throughout the world.<\/p>\n

Fisheries Victoria also plans to stock the water hole in the leadup to the September holidays with a further 750 trout.<\/p>\n

There is a daily bag limit of five trout and only two can be more than 35cm.Those between the ages of 18 and 70 are required to have a fishing license, which can be obtained online.<\/p>\n

Fisheries Victoria stock waterways to help improve the opportunities for fishing and to help with the recovery of endangered species.<\/p>\n

The Victorian July school holidays run from July 1 until July 12, with several other lakes in Melbourne and regional areas being stocked.<\/p>\n
