A NEW facility in Geelong is set to enhance sustainable remanufacturing in the Australian healthcare system, supported by the Victorian government.<\/p>\n
Located at ManuFutures in Deakin University’s Waurn Ponds Campus, the Medsalv facility will remanufacture single-use medical devices from Australian hospitals for safe reuse.<\/p>\n
The process involves sorting, cleaning, testing, inspecting, packaging, and relabelling products to prevent them from going into landfill.<\/p>\n
Medsalv’s product remanufacturing portfolio now includes patient transfer mattresses, deep vein thrombosis prevention sleeves, blood pressure cuffs, and tourniquets.<\/p>\n
Minister for Economic Growth Tim Pallas congratulated the company for opening the new facility.<\/p>\n
“[It] will deliver significant returns by bolstering our medical supply chains, providing jobs to those that need it most and will keep medical products out of landfill,” Mr Pallas said.<\/p>\n
“Medsalv’s decision to establish their remanufacturing and R&D facility in Victoria demonstrates our standing as a leader in advanced manufacturing and healthcare innovation.”<\/p>\n
The Victorian government previously supported the extension of ManuFutures with a $10 million investment.<\/p>\n
Dubbed ‘ManuFutures 2’, the facility enables businesses to get access to product engineering services, incubator programs, and spaces for training and collaboration.<\/p>\n
The Medsalv facility is expected to create 49 jobs over the next five years and strengthen local medical supply chains, with potential exports to markets in the Asia Pacific and Europe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
