GEELONG’S Sinead Redmond has walked away with a deserving win at this year’s national Women in Industry Awards in Sydney.<\/p>\n
Ms Redmond, who is GeelongPort’s head of infrastructure delivery, received the Excellence in Construction Award at the annual awards night in recognition of her years of advocacy and volunteering in the construction industry.<\/p>\n
“It is a huge honour to win the Women in Industry Excellence in Construction Award among such a talented field of women,” Ms Redmond said.<\/p>\n
“I have been fortunate to work for companies that support my passion for helping people in the community and in the engineering and construction professions.”<\/p>\n
Ms Redmond’s industry experience spans 15 years, boasting various leadership roles at organisations including Engineers Australia, Women in Engineering Network Australia and National Association of Women in Construction Victoria.<\/p>\n
Ms Redmond was born and raised in Ireland where she found her passion for the construction industry at an early age.<\/p>\n
She entered the industry at 16, joining her father’s construction business and after several years on site, studied civil engineering and commenced an engineering career.<\/p>\n
Ms Redmond arrived in Australia in 2014.<\/p>\n
Since joining GeelongPort in 2022, Ms Redmond has led the development of a new Project Management Office for the business, created a new public process to open tendering opportunities to the broader market and formed a consultant panel of small, medium and large businesses.<\/p>\n
“It’s important that all suppliers have equal opportunities,” Ms Redmond said.<\/p>\n
“As a result, the port now has more than three times the number of diverse local suppliers, consultants, and contractors from the construction sector.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
