GEELONG Regional Libraries Corporation is partnering with the Golden Plains Shire to provide a program of events by local artists.

The Take Part Local Art program includes seven free workshops led by a diverse group of local artists at the Bannockburn Library.

The program began with the Grow your Creative Practice sessions held last weekend, which were designed to help creatives develop professional skills.

On Tuesday 8 April Samantha Thompson will run a linoprinting workshop before Lyn Lambeth shares the art of upcycling on Saturday 7 and Saturday 14 June.

Ros Bosnar will help participants design and dye a silk scarf on

Saturday 2 and Saturday 9 August, and on Tuesday 7 October Bec Wilson will run a timber round painting workshop.

“We’re thrilled to work together with Golden Plains Shire Council to present this workshops series,” Geelong Regional Libraries Corporation chief executive Vanessa Schernickau said.

“Our libraries are a place for creative collaboration, and we aim to provide a welcoming space for creative exploration and learning.

“These sessions have been very popular to date, and we look forward to welcoming faces familiar and new through the doors at Bannockburn Library for the next round.”

Workshop registration will be available closer to each session’s date.
