Relaxing afternoon in historic church
THIS Sunday marks the next candlelit soiree at Buninyong Uniting Church which promises to be an afternoon of relaxing music and community.
Set in a 19th century building, the afternoon will feature music from Drantán, Celtic Kin and Uke in Black.
Paul Sanders, church minister, said he hopes attendees can use the event as an opportunity to unwind and connect.
“The idea is to create a kind of visual and musical atmosphere where people can take some time just to relax and engage with a range of music,” he said.
“Part of this is engendering community involvement or connectivity so people can see that really important building and community in their midst.”
Sue McLachlan, member of local group Celtic Kin, said the afternoon will be a great opportunity for people to share the joy of music.
“We’re an all-female group of Celtic music players and we play together generally through U3A as that’s where we met,” she said.
“We generally play traditional music from Ireland and Scotland, and we play a variety of instruments.
“I am looking forward to enjoying our music with other people because we like people to join in.”
The concert will begin at 4pm this Sunday 14 April.
Tickets can be purchased for $15 at the door and include refreshments.
