500k FOR CITY OVAL’S FEMALE FACILITIES
A FIVE-hundred thousand investment in accessible female-friendly change rooms at the City Oval will be made if a Labor government is formed after 18 May.
The election promise was made last Tuesday by Shadow Minister for Sport, Don Farrell and Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King.
Mr Farrell said the funding would make the City Oval “a 21st century sporting facility,” where currently female athletes and umpires don’t have access to appropriate amenities.
City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Samantha McIntosh said there is more to do for women in sport, but the announcement for the historic sports ground is a step forward.
“It’s important that we protect history and provide for future use,” she said. “We’re absolutely right behind female participation in all sports.”
