90th reunion honours WWI nurses
BALLARAT Base Hospital Trained Nurses League recently hosted its members at its AGM, an afternoon tea and a reunion dinner at the Ballarat Golf Club in celebration of its 90th year.
Members travelled from across the country to renew old friendships, many having not seen each other for years.
Guest speaker President of the Returned and Services Nurses Club of Victoria Sub-Branch RSL retired ARRC Colonel Jan McCarthy’s address focussed on the WWI nurses, whom she said, “Deserve to be remembered as a proud determined group who provided an extraordinary quality of skilled service and caring to nurse their boys.”
Alicia Gillet was awarded the Joanne Gilbert Scholarship for Maternal and Child Health presented by Joanne’s mother Julie Brusaschi.
