NATHAN ‘Wippy’ Griggs has a date teed up with Teesdale where he’s set to demonstrate just why it is he’s a five-time whip cracking Guinness World Record-holder.

The Leighdale Equestrian Centre Committee of Management will be hosting Griggs on Saturday 24 January at the centre on Bannockburn-Shelford Road.

The upcoming visit is part of the world-renowned whip-cracker’s wider tour that started on 10 December at Kunanurra in Western Australia, and will take Griggs to 10 Victorian locations over January and February.

“No tickets are required. It’s a free event and Nathan collects money by walking around with his hat and you can throw some money in his hat if you like,” said Leighdale Equestrian Centre Committee of Management treasurer and maintenance officer Mark Mummery.

“He also sells souvenirs during and after the event. It’s BYO chair or picnic rug and it’s a family friendly, no alcohol event with food trucks and a coffee van on site.

“I’ve seen Nathan’s show four times already and it’s absolutely awesome.

“When I heard he was touring to Victoria I got in contact. We like to try to do a few things for the community. That’s what the equestrian centre is all about.”

Based in the Northern Territory, Griggs combines elite skill, handcrafted whips, and his signature blend of Aussie humour.

With over a decade of touring experience, he has performed in hundreds of towns, captivating audiences across Australia and around the globe.

As both a professional entertainer and artisan whip maker, Griggs’ passion for his craft is evident and his custom-made whips are in high demand internationally.

Entry to the Leighdale Equestrian Centre grounds for the show on Saturday 24 January will be from 5pm with the event scheduled to get started at 7pm.
