A new spin for old records
LYDIARD Furniture and Antiques is holding its third Wizards Annual Book Fair at Messenger Hall over the weekend of Saturday, 4 and Sunday, 5 May.
Peter Wills, organiser of the Fair, said there will be thousands of books, magazines, comics and records for sale.
“There will be LPs, singles and even some old 78 records up for grabs,” he said.
Mr Wills, a licenced second hand dealer since 1987, said he accumulates much more than he can fit into his two stores.
“The Fair gives me take the opportunity to lay out the books and the records so people can see what we have,” he said.
Mr Wills is a fan and avid collector of Australian author Ion Idriess’s books.
“I’ve got first editions of his books Horrie The Wog Dog and Headhunters of the Coral Sea that he wrote in the 1940s for sale at the fair,” he said.
He has an Edison Cylinder Phonograph machine as well as gramophones and portable record players available for purchase over the weekend.
The Wizards Annual Book Fair is at Messenger Hall, Nolan Street entrance of the Victorian Railways Institute Hall in Lydiard Street North, Ballarat on Saturday, 4 May from 10am to 5pm and Sunday 5, May from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free.
