Age no barrier for first-time wave rider
AGE is certainly no barrier for Jean Skinner, who at 91 has just taken her first ride on a jet ski.
The Ballarat resident who has been visiting Portarlington for annual family holidays spanning almost 60 years, put her age and ailments aside, deciding that it was time for her to take to the water for her maiden voyage on a Jet Ski.
It was a precious moment for Daniel Skinner, who got to share the special occasion with his grandmother, by driving the ski.
Upon returning to shore, the onlookers of family, friends and beach-goers, were greeted by a very happy Jean, sporting a big thumbs up.
She said she had a great time, and with a cheeky smile remarked, “When I get to 93 then I might go out again.”
Jean has three children, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, and is looking forward to many more years holidaying, and more Jet Ski trips to come.
