Alumni invited to tour new facilities
PAST students from throughout Mount Clear College’s history are being invited back onto campus as part of an all-years reunion next month.
As part of the event, which will run on Saturday 21 October from 12pm to 2pm, more than 100 historical items will go on display with guided tours to update attendees on the school’s modern facilities.
Aidan Edwards marketing and development coordinator said the event will give the school’s alumni the chance to see how the school has changed over the years.
“We have a lot of past students who are really eager to come through the college and have a look through,” he said. “Obviously a lot’s changed in the last six years ago with new facilities.
“We’ll open up the school for the day and have our historical items and records on display while our staff will lead people through the college.
“Currently, we don’t have a reunions program. Most years self-host them, so we’re kind of organising this around that because we know there’s a couple reunions on the same day.”
Live music will be provided by current school students while footage from past student productions will be on display.
Mr Edwards said the all-years reunion is part of an effort to introduce a dedicated past students program for Mount Clear College.
“We’ve commenced an alumni program as of the start of last year,” he said. “We’ve joined forces with Ourschool which supports government schools in alumni programs.
“Mount Clear itself is a young school though there’s still a rich history there so we’ve opened this up to the Ballarat Girls’ School or Ballarat Technical School.”
More than 1300 archival items have been digitised as part of the alumni program.
