ARTS Emergence returns to Bannockburn next week with an opportunity for artists who don’t have an exhibition space to showcase their work.

This Thursday, 15 December, alongside the Golden Plains Twilight Market, Shire creatives will be based in the Bannockburn Cultural Centre.

From 2pm into the evening, they’ll be presenting and selling their original works.

“We have 16 visual artists taking part, and quite a lot of traditional types of art,” said organiser Rosslyn Bosnar.

“Our group is mainly pastel, watercolour, and acrylic artists, some traditional card makers, and I do silk paintings,” she said.

“We have some new artists joining us, including a photographer who is set to do some family photography on the day. There will be some crafts, and small Christmas presents available.”

Bosnar said she encourages people of all ages to head down to the centre and have a browse, as there will be something for everybody, including artist demonstrations.

“There will be people painting, and you’ll be able to see some acrylic art being created with a palette knife. I’ll be doing some watercolour painting,” she said.

“A few others do big pieces, like Lyn Steele, who paints very animated, cheeky animals, like magpies and emus.”

The Golden Plains Arts Trail, which many Arts Emergence participants will be part of, is set to take place in early May, with funding received.

Bosnar said events like next week’s will be part of artists’ preparations for the big open studio weekend.

“We’re really looking forward to Arts Emergence this time. It will be a great introduction to exhibiting for quite a few newer artists before the Arts Trail,” she said.

This is the second Arts Emergence, with the first highlighting nine local artists.
