WITH avian influenza having recently broken out at seven of the regions’ poultry farms, Agriculture Victoria are conducting information sessions to keep everyone up-to-date on the situation.

Staff will be on hand to answer any questions via face-to-face popup sessions at the Bannockburn Plaza Shopping Centre throughout the month.

Some sessions have already taken place, with the remainder to occur from 10am to 12pm tomorrow, and again on Thursday 11 and Saturday 13 July.

A viral disease of birds that spreads globally, the outbreak originated from a farm at Meredith which has spread to six other nearby poultry properties in the region as well as one at Terang.

According to information released by Agriculture Victoria, “all properties have been placed in quarantine and all poultry will be safely and humanely disposed of.”

Movement controls are in place and the infected sites are expected to be cleared and cleaned.

Maps of the affected region and the sites’ respective areas of control can also be found via the Agriculture Victoria website.

Risk towards infection for humans remains extremely low.
