TUESDAY nights at the Woady Yaloak Recreation Reserve will be more energetic from next month.

Part of the Active Golden Plains initiative, four bootcamp sessions beginning Tuesday, 18 February will welcome people over 16, of all fitness levels, to turn up and work out.

Sports Central is coordinating the series with Sean Weir as trainer. SC team member, Natalie hopes the less active will be encouraged to try something new.

Anyone can simply arrive on the day at 7pm to have a go at the hour-long bodyweight program.

“It’s fun, inclusive and easy to do,” she said. “This is a way to incorporate beginners and those who have been exercising previously, to get them started again for the new year.

“It’s a no cost activity and we’re hoping to target participants from the Sons of the West to get back into it. Sean was one of the personal trainers involved in the program, so he’ll be doing a similar class.”

Natalie said her team wants to encourage the north of the shire to take the first steps to improve their overall wellbeing.

“We’re reducing the barrier of having to travel and pay for exercises if they previously couldn’t afford to do it or don’t put themselves first,” she said.

“If they have friends that they want to bring along, they can do it together. It’s an opportunity to see if they enjoy it, and if they do, we can link them in with something similar that’s happening around, and work to try and continue it.”

The bootcamp program is free. Visit sportscentral.org.au for more information.
