Ballarat stars in pet-friendly TV program
BALLARAT will feature in the fourth series of Channel Ten’s pet-friendly travel show, Pooches at Play.
During episode four screening Saturday, 10 August at 2pm, the city is shown as a Victorian caravanning hotspot and popular place to visit with a hound.
Hosted by dog trainer, Lara Shannon and The Travel Bug’s Morgan Burrett, City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Samantha McIntosh appears on the program, showcasing the pet-friendly precinct that is Lake Wendouree.
“Often people that are caravanning have their pets. It’s nice to know of all the beautiful places there are around Ballarat they can take them,” she said.
“There’s places like Pioneer Park. We were up at Lake Wendouree, the little Fairyland area, the Avenue of Prime Ministers, the start of the rowing course where the Olympic Rings are… There’s so much for anyone that’s visiting to be able to come and enjoy.
“We did a little bit of a walk around the lake and spoiled the pooches at Pipers. The dogs were testing Pooch Cappuccinos, dog biscuits and all sorts. Pretty gorgeous,” Cr McIntosh said.
Each week, Pooches at Play visits a range of Australian destinations, giving pet-friendly travel tips and sharing fun activities available for dog owners to do with their canine companions.
In the Ballarat episode, viewers will also discover the joys of gold fossicking, learn training, health and nutrition tips for Staffies, meet Instagram celebrity, Axle the Staffy, and discover how Guide Dogs Australia assists those with low vision and blindness in the community.
