Ballarat’s Hotsteppers making a difference

FOUR Ballarat women will next month embark on a journey to raise funds for Oxfam.

Oxfam Trailwalker is a 100km trek from Emerald Lake to Fairfield that will take place over 36 hours between 29 -30 March.

Ballarat’s local team, The Hotsteppers, is made up of Rhona Wilson, Rachel Kane, Erin Fletcher and Elise Middleton who have been in training around local tracks including Lake Wendouree, the Skipton Rail Trail, Mt Buninyong as well as Creswick Forest bush trails.

Thanks to the support of their family, friends and colleagues, plus a range of sponsors, The Hotsteppers have already raised a significant amount to help Oxfam tackle poverty.

Local corporate sponsors include Showbiz Cinemas, The Athletes Foot and the Ballarat Times News Group, who have all donated generously to Oxfam, on behalf of the team.

The team will also be supported by their pit crew, Eliza Hopkinson and Rebecca Perks, who will restock their supplies, provide meals and assist with pack changes at checkpoints throughout the trail.

Since 1999 Oxfam Trailwalker in Australia has raised more than $70 million that has carried our vital work worldwide in promoting education, ensuring access to clean water, teaching skills to grow food and fighting for human rights.
