THIS September Beaufort Municipal Band will be holding a concert to celebrate one hundred and fifty years.

The performance will include appearances from the Horsham, Stawell, Ararat, Creswick, and Daylesford brass bands and special guest artists the Pyrenees Chorale.

The concert will begin at 10.30am on Saturday 10 September at Beaufort Town Hall and will run until 4.30pm with a break for lunch in-between.

The final piece in the concert will be played by all visiting bands along with past members of the Beaufort Municipal Band who have been invited to join in.

“This event will show case to the community the bands in the region, and also provide an opportunity to celebrate the Beaufort Band’s 150th milestone with locals, visitors, current and past members and have the local singers in the Pyrenees Chorale join in during the day,” said president Cara Lovejoy.

“It has been a busy year with numerous playouts that have taken place so far with events in the local band rotunda, Port Arlington in summer, Bright in winter and Ballarat during its Heritage Festival.

“I am hoping for a good crowd at the Beaufort Town Hall on the 10th of September to participate in our special celebration year”.

The band was formed in the 1870s, making it one of the oldest brass bands in Victoria.

It has seen success with wins in its completion grade in Melbourne and at Royal South Street in Ballarat.

The concert will be free to attend with donations welcomed, and the Apex Club of Beaufort will be proving a sausage sizzle and the CWA Beaufort will be supplying afternoon tea.
