THE Bannockburn Chamber of Commerce is seeking enterprising people from the south of the Shire to join their committee.

President Bronwyn Davie said the group has tightened after the economic challenges of 2020, so they’re looking for motivated businesspeople to become part of the advocacy team.

The committee experience “fast tracks your understanding” of the district’s commercial operations.

“Being on the committee is fantastic. You get to the front of the news, it’s a great networking opportunity, and getting to know other committee members, and Chamber members, means you can proactively support local,” she said.

“If you are a person on the committee, suddenly you find out a lot more information that just doesn’t get disseminated in other ways.

“It helps you run your own business and understand what’s happening locally.”

Running two businesses, Ms Davie has been living in Bannockburn for 18 years. She said people may not think they have the time, but committing to the Chamber is manageable.

“It’s good to give back, and it’s not as tedious on the committee, or as hard as people think.

“Our meetings are in a very amiable environment, and it’s an opportunity to keep your finger on the pulse of what’s going on from the front,” she said.

The Chamber has recently received a grant from the State Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions to develop a digital local business directory.

In 2021, they will also explore the possibility of collaborating with the Golden Plains Shire to facilitate several networking events each year.
