PRE-LOVED items and personal treasures will soon fill the Meredith Memorial Hall as part of a fundraiser sale hosted by one of the town’s premier community groups.

Members of the Advance Meredith Association are preparing to hold their Epic Treasure Sale, which president Kym Ivory said is sure to please bargain hunters.

“We’ve collected bric-a-brac and vintage clothing, some really nice items,” she said.

“There won’t be anything shabby in there.

“One of the main organisers told me she has about two households worth of stuff.

“There’ll be a plant stand, old records, a clothing section, all sorts of things. It’ll be a great day to get out and be among the community.”

A sausage sizzle and Devonshire tea will also be held on the day.

Funds from the event will go towards aiding the organisation’s Christmas celebrations.

“We do a Christmas corner, at Wallace and Staughton streets, and our decorations have perished over the years,” Ms Ivory said.

“We don’t have a storage shed yet to house them in so we want to be able to pretty that up again.”

Ms Ivory said some proceeds may be used towards another idea the group has in mind for the town, which is still in its conceptual stages.

“Some little towns have their own big symbols,” she said.

“Some have the big bull or the big banana; we’re thinking of trying to get a big sheep statue for the town so some of the funds might go towards that.

“Sometimes people can know a town by their iconic statue so it’d be good for us to have one of our own.

“We’ve begun the process of trying to work out who to contact, where to go for permits, and what the whole process is.”

Advance Meredith Association’s Epic Treasure Sale event will run from 10am to 3pm on Saturday 9 November.
