BHS DELIVERS OFFSITE EMERGENCY TRAINING
BALLARAT Health Services Emergency Medicine Education and Training conducted a rural emergency skills day in Maryborough for GPs and urgent care staff at Maryborough District Health Service. Skills included in the program were the application of advanced life support and acute management of musculoskeletal injuries. Training was also given on plastering, eye emergencies, ear, nose and throat injuries and burns.
At one of five training stations Registrar Dr Mary McKinnon (pictured, right) took staff through nasal packing to stop nose bleeds. Emergency physicians and clinical nurse educator-specialists from BHS organised and facilitated the skills day program. The program was funded by the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine in partnership with Primary Health Network.
