Brigade to bring trivia fun
AN evening of headscratchers for the musically minded will soon come to Lethbridge courtesy of the Maude Fire Brigade.
Next month will see CFA members host a music-themed trivia night at the Lethbridge Cricket Club, which brigade auxiliary team member Michael Mone said is an ideal way of engaging with community.
“It’ll be four rounds of trivia and in-between those rounds, we’ll do activities like a best dressed costume, our coin toss, silent raffles,” he said.
“It’s a fun social evening and it’s also great community engagement. We lost a lot of that over COVID and the community’s changed a lot since then so it’s a way for us to get our name out there.
“We’re always looking for new members so it’s a way to show people it’s a fun safe space where they can learn a lot.”
The trivia night will be the brigade’s second following their initial one in October during which members raised about $2500.
Entry is $10 and funds raised through the event will go towards the brigade’s equipment and maintenance.
“Primarily it’s a fundraising event,” Mr Mone said. “The big one at the moment is we’re looking to update one of our two fire tankers especially with the drier fire season coming.
“There’s some funding through CFA but a lot of it does come down to us as an independent volunteer-run brigade.
“On top of that, there’s constant maintenance required on vehicles, hoses, and all the smaller bits of equipment.”
The music trivia night will run from 7pm on Friday 19 July.
