Build up your digital skills
A SESSION planned for Bannockburn Library is aiming to help residents develop their digital skills.
The free event will be held on Thursday 7 September from 10.30am and will assist people over 50 in using various digital devices.
Topics will include using a smartphone, computer basics, data and Wi-Fi, using the My Gov website, online banking, and avoiding scams.
The aim of the session is to boost people’s confidence in using technology, with the library also hosting fortnightly sessions on Wednesdays where participants can learn at their own pace.
“We’re committed to digital equity for all,” said CEO of Geelong Regional Libraries, Vanesse Schernickau.
“The Building Digital Skills program at Bannockburn Library empowers older individuals to embrace technology and help bridge the digital divide.
“Our focus is ensuring basic digital literacy and enabling access to learn at a pace that suits the individual, in a friendly and safe community library setting.”
Later in the year there will be a graduation session held on Wednesday 1 November where participants can reflect on what they’ve learnt and the skills they’ve developed.
