AN index for businesses across Golden Plains Shire will be finalised by the middle of this month.
The Golden Plains Chamber of Commerce’s directory will be launched at its annual general meeting on Thursday 24 September.
“The directory gives a way for anyone in the Golden Plains Shire to find local and trusted businesses that are in or are supporting the local area,” the chamber’s president Peter Nunn said.
Nunn said both the chamber and the index were important networking tools for all residents.
“The directory helps our members find new customers and help customers find local businesses,” he said.
“The chamber is also important to businesses in that the networking nights we put on are a way for businesses within Golden Plains to interact with each other as well as share issues and work with like-minded people.”
The Golden Plains Business Directory currently has 80 entries. All of the entries are members of the chamber.
Nunn said that despite economic concerns, the Golden Plains chamber was attracting interest.
“We have lost a few members in the past 12 months due largely to the business closing for various reasons,” he said. “Some have dropped out due to cost pressures at the moment as well.
“However, the last networking night saw five new business sign up with the chamber which is fantastic, and we are actively chasing more.”
The Golden Plains Chamber of Commerce’s next networking night is on Saturday 25 July at the Railway Hotel.
