IN few weeks, Bannockburn Library will be hosting a free yoga session to celebrate the first day of summer.

Instructor Mami from the Y Colac will be hosting the class which will be adaptable to individual needs.

Vanessa Schernickau, CEO of Geelong Regional Libraries, said the aim of the session is to provide an inclusive environment for members of the community to try yoga.

“We are excited to offer something perhaps a little unexpected at Bannockburn Library with an introductory yoga session in our beautiful outdoor courtyard,” she said.

“This class is open to all, regardless of experience or ability, with many modifications available and perhaps after the class, explore our collections to learn more about yoga or meditation.”

There will be options for participants to do chair poses, with the hope that this will allow more people to participate.

Following the event there will be morning tea and participants can learn about the Y’s ongoing fitness classes.

The event will be on Friday 1 December from 10am and participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat.
