ARE you aged between twelve and twenty-five and would like to have your say on the needs of young people in the Shire?

Well, here’s your chance, via an invitation from the municipality for bright sparks in the region to join the Golden Plains Youth Activation Committee.

The group meets every Tuesday afternoon at the Golden Plains Youth Hub at Bannockburn and provides a forum to discuss the effectiveness and delivery of past local youth events and programs as well as plan future projects.

“The Golden Plains Youth Activation Committee is a fantastic program for emerging leaders in the community to build their leadership capabilities and support other young people in Golden Plains,” said mayor Brett Cunningham.

“Council is committed to providing a range of inclusive, innovative and accessible programs to allow for young people within the Shire to build capacity and learn new skills.

“We look forward to hearing from the young people who are interested in joining the Youth Activation Committee and are eager to support them to be the difference in the community and to advocate for themselves and other young people in the Shire.”

As part of the nomination process, prospective members will be asked to explain what would make them an asset to the committee and put forward any issues they feel local youth should have a say about.
