ORGANISERS behind a free community day in the region are calling out for people to take part in its return.

Coordinated by the Maude, She Oaks, Steiglitz community planning committee, the event is set to take place once again at Bunjil’s Lookout on 10 November.

Planning group member Mandy Humpage said the team is looking to fill a range of roles.

“We’re looking for people who want to have a market stall or join the committee because there’s just a handful of us on the planning committee,” she said.

“Then if anyone wants to help organise or help run the day, that would be great too. We want to lock people in now because it’s such a busy time of the year with markets and events.”

Ms Humpage said she has 10 components to this year’s event already locked in.

Live music, workshops, and children’s entertainment, such as a petting zoo, are set to feature.

Last year’s event saw more than a dozen stalls and Ms Humpage estimated about 700 people attended.

She said it’s important those involved with the event are local to the region.

“Community connectiveness is an important part of this event, so it’s about facilitating that,” she said.

“It’s that people don’t just live somewhere, they feel connected to their community and in doing so, they want to give back more.”
