FOUR projects within Golden Plains Shire have received funding as part of the State Government’s Tiny Towns Fund.
Member for Eureka Michaela Settle announced Teesdale Cricket Club will receive $50,000 for a scoreboard and storage at Don Wallace Reserve while Woady Yaloak Historical Society will receive $12,700 for lockup repairs and painting.
Carngham Linton Football Netball club were awarded more than $39,000 for an electronic scoreboard while the Cape Clear Recreation Reserve Committee of Management received more than $41,000 to irrigate the oval, install a storage shed and add electric barbecues.
Ms Settle said the initiative is about helping communities across the state flourish.
“It’s really aimed at making sure our smaller communities can have the things that they want, that they need,” she said. “What I really love about is that it’s community driven, so communities can apply for it through Regional Development Victoria for whatever project they think that their town needs.”
Cape Clear Recreation Reserve Committee of Management chairperson Evelyn Cannon said the group were thrilled to be successful with this round of funding.
“It’s really exciting to be part of the second round,” she said.
“We’re going to be able to irrigate our oval, we’re going to be able to put in electricals to get a dual electric barbeque, electric lighting, caravan electric power points, and we’re getting a storage shed.
“It’s going to be really amazing to have a green space all year round for our community to enjoy.”
The irrigated oval will be suitable for cricket and the committee members are looking for a suitable coach to get the initiative running.
More than 350 projects have been supported through round one and two of the fund across more than 300 Victorian towns.
