Carols seek volunteer support
IF you’re enthusiastic, reliable and embrace all the joys of Christmas, Ballarat Carols by Candlelight could have the task for you.
The new committee is currently seeking volunteers to give their time at the event, whether it be to usher and greet families, set up and clean up, distribute songbooks, man entry points for gold coin donations, or supervise 3BA Christmas Appeal collection points.
Ballarat Carols by Candlelight Inc. President, Matt Hustwaite is excited to build a strong team of volunteers to support the event, and therefore the 4500 Ballarat families receiving assistance via the 3BA Christmas Appeal’s benefiting welfare agencies.
“It was heartening to see so many people speak out, particularly online, putting their hand up to offer help,” he said.
“Events like these don’t happen without generous assistance from volunteers and we’re hoping to get an enthusiastic group together to ensure our community has a safe and enjoyable evening come December 22nd.
“Christmas is about coming together as a community, and what a great way this is for people to work together for a great cause,” Mr Hustwaite said.
Jason Gigliotti, Director of the carols’ presenting partner, Harcourts Ballarat said the event aligns so well with his business’s approach to community.
“We hope to see many Ballarat locals by our side ensuring the event runs smoothly.
“The Harcourts family lives by four core values of ‘people first, doing the right thing, being courageous, and fun and laughter’,” he said. “Being involved in Ballarat Carols by Candlelight fulfils these values.”
Interested volunteers must be over 18, able to stand for sustained periods of time, and to navigate through crowds. They must have a Police Records Check and Working with Children check.
Singers and musicians are also sought. All volunteers can register to help at ballaratcarolsbycandlelight.org.au.
