The Steiner Prep Program
Choosing the right start to your child’s education is a decision that will have long-lasting effects on their development and attitude toward learning.
The Steiner Prep program fosters well-rounded, engaged learners. With its holistic and nurturing approach, the program goes beyond academics to offer a deep, meaningful education grounded in storytelling, movement, artistic expression, and play.

The program is comprehensive and not only provides foundational and language-rich literacy and numeracy knowledge, but also cultivates creativity, confidence, and social connection.
Classes 1-6
The education at Ballarat Steiner places an emphasis on creating a calm and structured environment where children can thrive. Our education framework nurtures creativity and independence while promoting self-esteem and a sense of security.
Our curriculum includes all subjects and one of the unique aspects of our education is the Main Lesson. This is a unit of work that runs every morning for about three weeks. It is both skill and inquiry based, integrates different subject areas, and gives children time to become immersed in the themes.
Our children develop academic, practical and social skills, which are fundamental to their future success, not only in academics but also in life.

Fostering Deep Focus in a Screen-Free Environment
In today’s digital age, children are more exposed to screens than ever before. At Ballarat Steiner School, we understand the importance of minimising screen exposure.
From Prep to Class Five, children experience a screen-free learning environment that allows them to focus deeply on their studies, engage in artistic activities and form strong social connections. By nurturing these aspects of development, we give children the tools they need to thrive both academically and socially, for life.
In Class 6 we run an IT program that prepares children for high school and the digital world. Children are encouraged to interact with technology responsibly while still valuing the importance of face-to-face interactions and creative thinking.
