Childcare centre hosting open day market
THIS Saturday, Buninyong Childcare Centre will be opening its doors to the community as part of their first-ever open day market.
With about 30 stalls to browse, centre manager, Geraldine Hickman, said the event will provide a great way to reintroduce the centre to local families while offering something for the community.
“It’ll give people the opportunity to walk through the centre and see how things are managed, and to see what we have to offer” she said.
“And we’ll have people selling plants, jewellery, bric-a-brac, homemade stuff, all sorts of things. It’ll be a nice win-win for everyone involved.”
The event will run from 8am until 2pm, with stalls operated by local businesses alongside a barbecue and playground entertainment for the kids.
A raffle will also be run throughout the day, and with additions like face-painting and tarot reading, Ms Hickman said the event will promise “a diverse range” of things to do.
Ms Hickman has organised open day markets in her previous roles, and said she always finds them a great way to engage with the community and, in Buninyong’s case, highlight what sets them apart from other centres.
“Because we’re out of town, we are a smaller centre which means the children will get more one-on-one time,” she said.
“This is an opportunity for parents to see who we are and the type of care we can give to their children.
“There’ll be events happening indoors and outdoors, and everyone can just come right in for free and check things out.”
