Classical music at Ballarat Central Uniting Church
THE Chamber Philharmonia Cologne, founded in German city of Cologne, is currently a ten-piece orchestra comprising outstanding musicians chosen from the musical cohort of the city.
The ensemble, through its performances, want to inspire as many people as possible to enjoy classical music across all generations.
Presenting over 300 concerts a year worldwide, the group offers audiences a musical encounter with a repertoire of hand-picked pieces designed to showcase both popular and unknown works across a broad musical spectrum.
This means familiar greats like Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Vivaldi could be played in a dialogue with works from composers such as Sergei Prokofiev through to Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla, often referred to as the King of Tango.
The multi-talented composition of the ensemble provides every player with the opportunity to perform as a soloist and therefore the program is devised to highlight both the music and the musician.
The Chamber Philharmonia Cologne are appearing at Ballarat Central Uniting Church, corner of Lydiard and Dana Streets on Tuesday, 26 February at 8pm.
Tickets are $35 for adults and $30 concession. They are available at Her Majesty’s Theatre Box Office, 17 Lydiard Street or at the door, but for cash sales only.
