Club to frame portrait day fundraiser
MEMBERS of Meredith Tennis Club are putting down their racquets and inviting everyone to get their family portraits taken next week.
Set for Saturday 27 April, the photos will be organised through children’s photographers Aver and Line, and tennis club secretary Bridget Dyer said funds from the event will go towards facility upgrades.
“The money will go towards things like buying new nets for the club because they’re all falling apart and we’ve had a local resewing them so there’s definitely a need for that,” she said.
“We also potentially need a new barbecue and our current one is used every summer on Saturdays.
“I think family portraits are always one of those things everyone loves once they’re done but people struggle with it and they’re not really a priority for many right now.
“This is a fundraising effort for a reasonable price.”
The initiative was inspired by the town’s kindergarten, who Ms Dyer said have been holding similar events for the past decade.
Each 20-minute portrait session plus a 20-minute viewing will cost $30 with proceeds to go towards the tennis club.
Ms Dyer said the photo day will be an opportunity to catch up on preserving some past victories.
“We had some children win some grand finals with the Buninyong and District Tennis Association and were unable to organise premiership photos for those teams at the time,” she said.
“We’ll have their photos taken and they’ll be displayed at the rec reserve.
Sessions will run from 10am to 3.40pm at the Meredith Recreation Reserve. To book, visit bit.ly/4d9uVns
