RESIDENTS of Golden Plains will have access to a series of free information sessions on mental health and drug and alcohol services being held all over the Shire in the coming months.

Known as Let’s Come Together and hosted by not-for-profit community service organisation Barwon Child, Youth and Family, the events are open to all members of the community.

“The Let’s Come Together sessions are an excellent initiative, where locals can share a cuppa and some cake and find out more about the mental health and drug and alcohol services that they can access, should they need them,” said mayor Cr Helena Kirby.

“With events in Meredith, Bannockburn, Inverleigh, Teesdale, Smythesdale and Lethbridge, I encourage local residents that have any questions about support services or are just looking to reconnect and enjoy some company, to consider coming along.”

A session will be held every month for the next four months on a Tuesday afternoon at 2pm, with the next session scheduled for 27 July at the Bannockburn Cultural Centre.

The sessions are delivered in partnership with the municipality and the State Government’s Community Activation and Social Isolation initiative, a program established to help people and communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic build and maintain social connections.
