Community get together in Cape Clear
MEMBERS of the Cape Clear Recreation Reserve’s Committee of Management are inviting the community to come together and share some festive cheer.
From 6pm on Wednesday 20 December, people are invited to come along to the reserve and committee chair Evelyn Cannon said the event is about appreciating each other’s company.
“It’s going to be a gathering, sitting around having a barbecue, some pudding and enjoying the company of neighbours,” she said.
“We have held this before and like a lot of things in the community you start it once and its about getting the word out there.”
Previous events had been held during the COVID-19 pandemic and Ms Cannon said she hopes more people can come along this year.
“We started it during COVID so therefore a lot of people weren’t heading out,” she said.
“This year we hope it is something everyone can come along to and enjoy being with their neighbours.”
The committee will be providing sausages, salads, pavlova and Christmas pudding for those who come along.
“This is a really important time of the year for people to forget their differences and be able to smile and laugh together,” said Ms Cannon.
“As a committee we can do that for the community.”
