MAUDE and District Landcare Group have announced the pricing for their 2021 rabbit baiting program.

Bags of carrots poisoned with Pindone come in three sizes including 20-kilogram for $75, 10-kilogram for $42 and five-kilogram for $27.

Pindone is a cumulative poison that acts as an anticoagulant, blocking the rabbit’s blood-clotting capabilities.

To be effective, rabbits need to be baited three times, on three different nights that fall close together, so purchases of the poisoned carrots need to be considered in triplicate.

The baited carrots need to be laid in a shallow trail and it’s suggested that non-poisoned carrots are introduced to the rabbits beforehand as it will help with drawing them to the bait. The Landcare Group doesn’t supply the plain carrots.

As part of the program Maude and District Landcare will issue an invoice with your first order, which will contain payment details.

Bookings for the baited carrots must be received by Sunday, 30 January and pick-up days are Friday, 5, Monday, 8 and Thursday, 11, February between 2 and 4pm each day.

The pick-up location is Maude Recreation Reserve, with access opposite the Maude Fire Station entrance.
