Course all about raising great kids
A FREE six-week parenting program is coming to Bannockburn Family Services Centre this May.
Parents, carers or guardians of children aged from 12 months to 12 years old are invited to take part in the Bringing Up Great Kids series.
Delivered in partnership between family service organisation Meli and the Golden Plains Shire, the program’s aim is to educate parents across about child development and offer them a space where they can reflect on their experiences caring for children.
At the end of the six weeks, it’s expected that participants’ parenting skills will have grown, they’ll be better equipped to communicate and interact with their children or young people, and ready to nurture and encourage their unique identities.
“At Meli, we are proud to be able to deliver Bringing Up Great Kids in the Golden Plains Shire,” said Meli manager of family and community services Toni Gauntlett.
“We have received so much positive feedback from past participants who have said that the program helped them understand more about their children’s development, provided helpful strategies for different situations, and that they now had a better understanding of working together as a family.”
Earlier this month, Barwon Child, Youth and Family and the Bethany Group merged to become the new not-for-profit organisation of Meli, with an aim to continue to provide wellbeing services to children, young people, and families.
Bringing Up Great Kids is just one of Meli’s community-based programs delivered to cater to and support families at different stages.
Meli family services, parent education, and a practitioner are also available through the Bannockburn Family Services Centre.
The program will run every Thursday from 10.30am to 12.30pm from 11 May until 15 June. Bannockburn Family Services Centre is based at 2A Pope Street, Bannockburn.
