LINTON’S Goldbrush Painters are calling on the community to come together and raise money for the group.
A fundraising paint and sip evening will be held on Sunday 23 February from 1.30pm with wine and nibbles provided.
Group member Bev Harris said the afternoon will be suitable for all experience levels and an opportunity for the Linton community to unite.

“We’re trying to get more enthusiasm in the community and get people in the community more involved in things,” she said.
“I think it’s good for people to know there is a connection there… to be able to reach out to people if they need anything.
“Mentally it’s good to know that you are in a situation where you know your neighbours and can talk to your neighbours.”

Funds raised from the event will go towards purchasing new equipment for the group and allow the group to host professional artists for workshops.
“We want to do things like for instance have somebody come here to do a workshop,” said Ms Harris.
“We can improve by having someone in to do workshops because the more enthusiastic you become, it gives you that enthusiasm to come and do more.”
Goldbrush Painters have been gathering at Linton Community Hub on Fridays between 10am and 12pm for a year.

The group averages around 10 attendees each week and Ms Harris encouraged the community to have a go at painting.
“We’ve gone from four of us to probably about 10 on average and I’m finding that it will build up even more,” said Ms Harris.
“People say they can’t paint but you don’t know that until you sit down with a brush.”
The event will be held at Linton Recreation Reserve and tickets cost $25. To make a booking email [email protected].
