THE perfect event for cheese lovers is on at Hotel Canberra as part of Commerce Ballarat’s Forage and Feast festival.

Curd Nerds will feature cheese from Meredith Dairy, Goldfields Farmhouse and Long Paddock.

“We will have three cheesemakers in the room and they will share their philosophy, how their business came about and why cheese,” said Hotel Canberra general manager Pete Dillon.

“Along with that out chefs will create a six-course menu using two cheeses from each of those makers.”

The six-course degustation will be served alongside matched wines.

“The beverages are really targeted to sitting alongside what our kitchen is producing,” said Mr Dillon.

“It’s going to be a really exciting combination.”

Mr Dillon said highlighting local producers is at the heart of Hotel Canberra.

“We did a maker’s dinner at the end of every month during 2023 and in 2024 we wanted to elevate it even further,” he said.

“We are great supporters of the Central Highlands Growers and Producers Hub because we see how important that is for the region and the local food bowl contributes to a strong food economy.

“If you drop and pin in the centre of Ballarat and draw a circle, you will find incredible producers in every corner.”

Curd Nerds will take place on Wednesday 28 February. Bookings can be made on the Central Highlands Growers and Producers Hub website.
