Democracy is free

ENTRY to the Eureka Centre is now free and it’ll be that way until 3 December.

Originally set up as the Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka, the municipality will be pivoting its focus to the Eureka Stockade.

“For such a long time the story of Eureka was told in the broader context of developments in international democracy, we now want to shift that focus to one of the 1854 Eureka Stockade and its social impact,” City of Ballarat Mayor Councillor Samantha McIntosh said.

Set for 2 December, this year’s Eureka Day commemoration will include a two-day program of events that’s been developed to mark the 164th anniversary of Eureka.
