DIY leadership from Handy Girl Australia’s CEO

KIM Halbert-Pere, CEO and founder of Handy Girl Australia, left the hallowed halls of policy writing and academia with a leap of faith into the world of small business.

As a panellist at the Australian Women’s Leadership Forum, being held in Ballarat on Friday, 15 March Ms Halbert-Pere will shed light on her brand, both personal and business, of leadership. Confidence is a word often used in her lexicon, in fact it is part of her business brand slogan ‘we build confidence.’

Leading by example, Ms Halbert-Pere started Handy Girl Australia with courage and a determination to provide a service to the community showcasing the skills of women in the non-traditional field of handyman services.

She is truly passionate about helping others to find their own way, inspiring women to have the confidence to have their own tools and tackle their own DIY projects but more importantly the bravery to give things a go.

“Research shows women often don’t strive for opportunities to the same degree as men because of a lack of confidence in their own abilities,” Ms Halbert-Pere said. “Sometime women sell themselves short, I think confidence is a key skill for leadership.”

Along with four other Ballarat women, from a broad spectrum in the local community, Ms Halbert-Pere will share her take on leadership in a panel discussion aptly titled ‘Where to from Here.’
