Egg-cellent fundraising for kids’ hospital
THE 2024 Inverleigh Good Friday Appeal family fun day has raised tens of thousands of dollars to support the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Held each Easter at Victoria Park, this year’s event included market stalls, rides, an easter egg hunt, performances, and displays, and raised a total of $40,059.71 for sick kids receiving care in the RCH.
“That’s double what we raised last year,” committee president Jay Cook said. “We had close to 5000 people attend this year, and the weather was beautiful.
“We had over 400 people participate in the easter egg hunt, and we’ve never had that sort of number before. We normally have a bit over 300.
“We ordered about 7500 easter eggs and it was lucky we did. Because it was $7 to participate, that was a good raiser.
“The live acts were popular again, as were all the community groups who did a fantastic job, including the men’s shed and the fire brigade.
“We had 80 market stalls and we hope to get them back next year.”
Mr Cook said the committee is grateful for all involved in the event, whether they made a financial donation, provided a service for free, ran a stall, operated a ride, or simply attended.
“We’d like to thank everyone who supported us,” he said. “There are six of us on the committee but it’s so much bigger than that.
“There are a lot of generous people who give up their time and give us the use of things like cool rooms and marquees for nothing.
“There are so many businesses, individuals and community groups that get involved and without them we’d raise nothing.
“We encourage anyone who would like to be a part of it next year to get in touch. We’re always after more committee people and volunteers.
