Ella Hooper on track for Railway Hotel
AUSTRALIAN singer-songwriter and Killing Heidi frontwoman Ella Hooper is set to perform at Bannockburn later this year.
Hooper will take to the stage at the Railway Hotel on Friday, 4 November, and she said she’s excited to play the venue.
“I’ve heard really lovely things about the place. Great atmosphere, good food, cosy pub vibes mixed in with really good acts and sound,” she said.
“It sounds like my perfect little gig. I reckon it’s my first time playing there too.
“I don’t play any Killing Heidi stuff. It’s all Ella Hooper solo but I do have some older releases I mix in like Low High. It’s kind of folky, country, Americana-influenced sounds.”
Hooper’s Bannockburn show is part of a nationwide tour in support of her recently released single, Old News.
The song will be part of her upcoming sophomore solo album, Small Town Temple, which Hooper wrote during lockdowns at her hometown of Violet Town.
She said the songs on the album showcase a more intimate and different side to her musicality.
“It means going a bit deeper, going in to share a lot more of my actual personal life, not so much a character like with Killing Heidi,” she said.
“They’re much more personal stories, more detailed. I think the singles, especially the newer single, Achilles Heel¸ shows the maturity in my writing since my last release.
“I feel like the reason people follow my journey is because it keeps evolving so I get really excited to show the evolution.
“Playing things live is such a delight because you get to put all that emotion in real-time.”
