ENFIELD has a new playground, recently installed in Harrison Reserve to replace the old equipment.

It was built and installed last last year, with climbing sections as a particular feature.

Appropriate for children of all ages, it has an area for rock-climbing, a slide, monkey bars, and a bird nest swing set.

Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Gavin Gamble said the fresh facility worth $250,000 is a valuable community asset, and has been funded by the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

“Golden Plains is home to 38 playgrounds spread across the Shire, and with the completion of the new Harrison Reserve Playground, Council has been pleased to complete upgrades at five of these this year,” he said.

“Children of a range of ages can now enjoy the brand-new playground with its birds nest swing, slide and various climbing options.

“The new playground provides Enfield families with a greatly improved community facility, and Council thanks the Australian Government for its funding commitment that made this upgrade possible.”

More landscaping work is in development around the playground, and public seats will be installed soon.

Linton Recreation Reserve is next on the list for an upgrade this year, also funded by LRCI Program money. Garibaldi, Dereel and Haddon playgrounds were upgraded with support from the same program, while the Shire contributed to the playground improvements in Rokewood.
