TWO free community events celebrating Women’s Health Week will be hosted by Golden Plains Shire.

Taking place as part of a nationwide initiative dedicated to the health and well-being of women, girls and gender-diverse people the events are set for next Thursday 4 and Friday 5 September.

Everyone is invited to get along to the Pain to Power event taking place on Thursday from 10am to 12pm at Bannockburn’s Golden Plains Civic Centre.

It will feature speakers from Women’s Health Grampians, Golden Plains Medical Centre and the Golden Plains Shire Council.

Women and girls aged from five years and up are also invited to attend Friday’s Be Kind to Your Mind event taking place from 4pm to 6pm at the Bannockburn Cultural Centre in High Street.

Facilitated by Firefly Wellbeing, this inter-generational art workshop will aim to nurture both creativity and connection.

Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Owen Sharkey encouraged women, girls and gender-diverse people to attend both events.

“This year’s theme for Women’s Health Week is ‘say yes to you’ and council is proud to host these events which focus on a different health topic to help women prioritise their own health and wellbeing,” Cr Sharkey said.

“These events are all about saying yes to you and putting your health first.

“Bring your mum, daughter, sister, neighbour, best friend, grandmother, or any special women in your life.”

Refreshments will be provided at both events with more information to be found at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/events and registrations available through Eventbrite.

Transport options will also be [email protected].
