Everyone wins with unique raffles return
A FIFTEEN-hundred-dollar prize is on offer at the Inverleigh Cricket Club as part of the club’s first social event for 2023.
With free alcohol from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, secretary Murphy Walker said the event is a great way to start the new year.
“It’s been tough the last few years because we haven’t had these rooms so it’ll be good to get as many people as we can around the club,” he said.
“We had our 150th last month which was more formal so this is more about just getting together to have a good time.
“There’s more tension with a reverse raffle. Each ticket gets pulled out and the last one pulled out of the barrel wins.”
With music provided by DJ Jaxon Cox, Mr Murphy said the reverse raffle is their biggest function of the year, averaging 80 people pre-COVID.
State Government-funded upgrades of $500,000 for the clubrooms were unveiled last year, and Mr Walker said the event is their opportunity to show off the new space.
“We missed a full season because of the upgrades and didn’t have any functions last year,” he said. “This’ll be a christening.
“We held one of these last year, but it was very small without the upgrades. The main aspect of the new rooms is the big entertainment area in the middle, and we’ve got beer on tap at the new bar.”
Inverleigh Cricket Club’s reverse raffle is scheduled for Saturday, 18 February from 6pm to 11pm with tickets at $60 for two adults.
