THE Golden Plains Farmers’ Market has been given the green light to return this weekend.

Saturday, 2 October will mark the first market in three months, with the event on pause due to COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions.

More than 40 stallholders are expected to turn out from 8.30am, with customers welcome to browse and shop until 12.30pm.

On offer is a range of locally grown and farmed produce, homemade food, as well as art, homewares and eco-friendly products.

The COVID safe event will require all in attendance to wear a mask, check in at one of the three entry points using a QR code and practice social distancing of 1.5 metres. Hand sanitiser will also be available.

The market is located at the Bannockburn Civic Heart Playground, 22 Byron Street, Bannockburn, and is usually scheduled for the first Saturday of every month, excluding January.

The event won the tourism and hospitality award at the 2017 Geelong Business Excellence Awards, and featured stallholders at this weekend’s market include Cooks Treat, La Madre Bakery, I & J Produce and Jennings Honey.
