Fed Uni project aims to bolster multiculturalism
FOLLOWING a launch in March, a new project is set to be developed by Federation University Australia’s National Centre for Reconciliation, Truth, and Justice.
Called the Roads to Reconciliation: Activating Multicultural Victoria, the initiative is being supported with $450,000 from the State’s Department of Families, Fairness, and Housing.
Federation University’s associate deputy vice-chancellor for reconciliation Professor Andrew Gunstone said the initiative is about engaging multicultural communities throughout the state.
“We are very excited to be undertaking this significant and innovative project,” he said.
“Roads to Reconciliation: Activating Multicultural Victoria will engage Victorian metropolitan and regional multicultural communities in reconciliation, truth, and justice.
“The project will be led by two eminent multicultural leaders, Maria Dimopoulos AM and Shankar Kasynathan, who I am delighted have joined the National Centre for Reconciliation, Truth, and Justice as adjunct senior research fellows.
“We are grateful to the Minister for Multicultural Affairs, and the Department of Families, Fairness, and Housing, for their generous funding for this very important project.”
The project launched last week on Tuesday 8 August at the Koorie Heritage Trust at Melbourne’s Federation Square.
